Meet Your CFI
I grew up in Portland, Oregon, where I spent much of my childhood outdoors as a Boy Scout, camping and exploring the Pacific Northwest. My home was located just off the final approach course to runway 28L at Portland International Airport, and I spent countless hours watching aircraft glide overhead, wondering what it would take to be at the controls.
My professional career began in the restaurant industry in 1994, where I continue to remain active today. Over the years, I advanced through every position, ultimately building the leadership, discipline, and customer service skills that continue to shape my approach to aviation. Flying, however, was always a goal I carried with me. In 2011, I began my private pilot training in San Diego, California. I went on to earn my instrument rating at the University of North Dakota’s Mesa, Arizona campus, followed by my commercial certificate. Within a year, I achieved both my Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor–Instrument (CFII) ratings.
Outside the cockpit, I enjoy camping, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my pets—four cats, my dog Amelia, and a tarantula named EZ. Animals have always been an important part of my life, with a special appreciation for opossums and raccoons.
As your instructor, my mission is to help you achieve your aviation goals with professionalism, focus, and encouragement at every step. I believe flight training should be both challenging and rewarding, and my approach emphasizes competence, confidence, and—above all—safety. I am committed to guiding you through every stage of your training with expertise and care.
