Meet Your CFI
I was raised in Portland, Oregon, where my love of the outdoors was shaped through years of Scouting, camping, and exploring the Pacific Northwest. Growing up near the approach path to Portland International Airport’s runway 28L, I developed an early fascination with aviation, spending hours watching aircraft glide overhead and wondering how something so heavy could remain in the sky.
My professional career began in the restaurant industry in 1994, where I remain active today. Over the years, I advanced through every position, building leadership, discipline, and customer service skills that continue to shape my approach to aviation. Flying, however, was always a personal goal. In 2011, I began my private pilot training in San Diego, California, later earning my instrument rating at the University of North Dakota’s Mesa, Arizona campus, followed shortly after by my commercial certificate. A year later, I achieved both my Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor–Instrument (CFII) ratings.
Outside the cockpit, I enjoy camping, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my pets—four cats and my dog, Amelia. Animals have always been an important part of my life.
As your instructor, my mission is to help you achieve your aviation goals with professionalism, focus, and encouragement. I believe flight training should be both fun and rewarding, and my approach emphasizes competence, confidence, and—above all—safety. I am committed to guiding you through every stage of your training with expertise and care.
